Some facts and personal thoughts:

1450 - Johannes Gutenberg from Mainz, Germany when he began experimenting with printing and by 1450, had a printing machine perfected and ready to use commercially.

1492 - On October 12, 1492, is when the Italian explorer Christopher Columbus officially set foot in the Americas.

1517 October 31 – Martin Luther – 95 Theses

1698 - An Englishman is usually credited with inventing the first steam engine. In 1698, Thomas Savery, an engineer and inventor, patented a machine that could effectively draw water from flooded mines using steam pressure.

1776 - By issuing the Declaration of Independence, adopted by the Continental Congress on July 4, 1776, the 13 American colonies severed their political connections to Great Britain.

1830s and 1870s – Steamships and railroads, Cornelius Vanderbilt (May 27, 1794 – January 4, 1877)  He was referred to as "commodore," then the highest rank in the United States Navy. A common nickname for important steamboat and steamship entrepreneurs, by the end of the 1840s it was applied only to Vanderbilt. At the end of his life he owned or controlled most of the railroads in North America.

1870 - John D. Rockefeller (1839-1937), founder of the Standard Oil Company, by the early 1880s controlled some 90 percent of U.S. oil refineries and pipelines. 

1870 - Scottish-born Andrew Carnegie (1835-1919)In the early 1870s, he entered the steel business, and over the next two decades became a dominant force in the industry. 

1896 – Tesla, Westinghouse, Edison and JP Morgan had part in the first hydro-electric power plant in the world at Niagara Falls and started the electrification of the world.

1920s - Henry Ford’s Model T Auto and the assembly line that revolutionized manufacturing

Regional GDP per capita changed very little for most of human history before the Industrial Revolution.

As the Industrial Revolution developed British manufactured output surged ahead of other economies. 

Since 1820 science and progress in the world has mirrored progress in the growth of the Church
