Avery Robinson's 23rd Birthday
Call and wish Beverly Bushnell Martin a happy Mother's Day
Doris Faye and Jr. Ward called and told me Betty McAlpin passed away yesterday, Friday, May 8th.
7:00 PM visit Spencer and Beth Lord at 3695 Stonegate in Ammon Idaho Falls
We visited with them until about 10 PM. They gave me their scrapbook they made of the missionaries who served in this area of Idaho Falls for about 6 years. I knew many of them. There is a newspaper clipping of Dr. Ketth Sellers, Chairman of Ricks College Religion Department. He gave me the idea for making a scroll from leather and painting a picture of the world showing the ring of fire, a chain of mountains on this Continent that is unbroken (could mean everlasting). Gen. 49th chapter, verses 22- 26, Joseph's blessing from his father Jacob (Israel). 22 ¶ aJoseph is a fruitful bbough, even a fruitful bough by a well; whose cbranches drun over the wall:
23 The archers have sorely grieved him, and shot at him, and hated him:
24 But his bow abode in strength, and the arms of his hands were made strong by the hands of the mighty God of Jacob; (from athence is the bshepherd, the cstone of Israel:)
25 Even by the God of thy father, who shall help thee; and by the aAlmighty, who shall bless thee with blessings of heaven above, blessings of the deep that lieth under, blessings of the breasts, and of the bwomb:
26 The ablessings of thy father have prevailed above the blessings of my progenitors unto the butmost bound of the everlasting chills: they shall be on the head of dJoseph, and on the crown of the head of him that was separate from his brethren. Then the coming forth of the Book of Mormon, when the Jews would once again have their own land. Using Ezekiel 37: 15-21 15 ¶ The word of the Lord came again unto me, saying,
16 Moreover, thou son of man, take thee one astick, and bwrite upon it, For cJudah, and for the children of Israel his companions: then take another stick, and dwrite upon it, For eJoseph, the fstick of Ephraim, and for all the house of Israel his companions:
17 And join them one to another into one stick; and they shall become aone in thine hand.
18 ¶ And when the children of thy people shall speak unto thee, saying, Wilt thou not shew us awhat thou meanest by these?
19 Say unto them, Thus saith the Lord God; Behold, I will take the stick of aJoseph, which is in the hand of Ephraim, and the tribes of Israel his fellows, and will put them with him, even with the stick of Judah, and make them one stick, and they shall be one in mine hand.
20 ¶ And the sticks whereon thou writest shall be in thine hand before their eyes.
21 And say unto them, Thus saith the Lord God; Behold, I will take the children of Israel from among the aheathen, whither they be gone, and will bgather them on every side, and bring them into their own land:
On May 14, 1948, for the first time in over 2,500 years Israel became an independent nation.
Then in Isaiah 29th chapter Isaiah prophetesses of the coming forth of the Book of Mormon. 9 ¶ Stay yourselves, and wonder; cry ye out, and cry: they are adrunken, but not with wine; they stagger, but not with strong drink.
10 For the Lord hath poured out upon you the spirit of deep asleep, and hath closed your beyes: the cprophets and your rulers, the dseers hath he ecovered.
11 And the vision of all is become unto you as the words of a abook that is bsealed, which men deliver to one that is learned, saying, Read this, I pray thee: and he saith, I cannot; for it is sealed:
12 And the book is delivered to ahim that is not learned, saying, Read this, I pray thee: and he saith, I am not learned.
13 ¶ Wherefore the Lord said, Forasmuch as this people adraw near me with their bmouth, and with their lips do chonour me, but have dremoved their eheart far from me, and their ffear toward me is taught by the gprecept of men:
14 Therefore, behold, I will proceed to do a amarvellous bwork among this people, even a marvellous work and a wonder: for the cwisdom of their wise men shall dperish, and the eunderstanding of their fprudent men shall be hid.
15 Woe unto them that seek deep to hide their acounsel from the Lord, and their works are in the dark, and they say, Who bseeth us? and who knoweth us?
16 Surely your turning of things upside down shall be esteemed as the potter’s clay: for shall the awork say of him that made it, He made me not? or shall the thing framed say of him that framed it, He had no understanding?
17 Is it not yet a very little while, and Lebanon shall be turned into a fruitful field, and the fruitful field shall be esteemed as a forest? Lebanon before the time of Isaiah had been a giant cedar forest. In time the trees were cut and Lebanon became a desert wilderness. The few cedar trees that remained were protected and became national treasures. After World War II America helped Lebanon build dams, irrigate the land and sent over 2 million fruit trees to Lebanon. In 1957 National Geographic Magazine showed pictures of Lebanon citrus fruit trees. Lebanon had literally become a fruit filled forest.
18 ¶ And in that aday shall the deaf hear the words of the bbook, and the ceyes of the blind shall see out of dobscurity, and out of darkness.
Then in Isaiah chapter 2, Isaiah prophetesses that all nations will come to the House of the Lord (temple) in the top of the mountains, Verses 2 and 3 2 And it shall come to pass in the alast days, that the bmountain of the Lord’s chouse shall be destablished in the top of the mountains, and shall be exalted above the hills; and all enations shall flow unto it.
3 And many people shall go and say, Come ye, and let us ago up to the bmountain of the Lord, to the chouse of the God of Jacob; and he will dteach us of his ways, and we will walk in his paths: for out of eZion shall go forth the flaw, and the word of the Lord from Jerusalem. There are two points I want to make here. The first is the Church wanted the US Congress to make the Territory of Deseret a state called Deseret. It took time for congress to make the territory a state but would not name it Deseret. They decided to call it Utah after one of the Indian tribes in that area, the Utes. It is interesting to know the word Ute means from the mountains or tops of the mountains. So Isaiah prophecy was fulfilled that the house of the lord would be established in Utah. The second point is that twice a year all nations flow to Salt Lake City, Utah and across the street from the temple people of all nations flow there to hear the words of the prophets. Now the words of the prophets goes out to all the earth from Utah.
The only questionable instruction I got from Dr. Keith Sellers was from the Book of Ruth. The path that was inferred but never directly sated was Elimeleck, Ruth's husband was an Ephraimite. From reading that his sons were Ephrathites. Elimeleck and his sons were of the tribe of Judah and lived near Bethlehem. If he had been an Ephraimite and Boaz in Chapter 4 of the Book of Ruth made a covenant to raise up a seed to Ruth husband who was dead it would bring into question what Christ linage would be in the resurrection. Ruth and Boaz's son was Obed, his son was Jesse, his son was David who Christ was a descendant through.
2 And the name of the man was Elimelech, and the name of his wife Naomi, and the name of his two sons Mahlon and Chilion, Ephrathites of Beth-lehem-judah. And they came into the country of Moab, and continued there. 3 And Elimelech Naomi’s husband died; and she was left, and her two sons.
