 6 Sep 2020, Sunday

Prioritized Daily Task

Autumn McAlpin 42nd Birthday

11 AM PST/ 12 Noon MST - Church zoom meeting - Matthew and family are teaching

1 PM - Debbie and I attended the ANM church service where 2 missionaries recently returning home spoke with a musical number between by usually young return sister missionaries

6:00 PM - attended 30th lesson, final class in Hebrew Course A

At 12 Noon family church meeting I gave the following spiritual thought: When we follow the invitation to hear the Savior’s voice in our lives, there is no reason to fear the future. There is always hope because of Jesus Christ. He will be with us and guide us through our most difficult times as we seek to hear Him. by Elder Dieter F. Uchtdorf

Also talked about why there are so many Nephi in the Book of Mormon. Same reason there are so many James in our family James McAlpin was the dad's great uncle, Dad's name was James, he named me James, I named my two sons James, then there is James Gavin and James Tucker.  It is a family tradition.  Another reason, parents named their children after famous men, such as Thomas Jefferson as was the case of dad's grandfather, Thomas Jefferson McAlpin.  Parent want their children to have those same qualities and traits as was the case with Nephi.  We all want to be remembered and Heavenly Father and Christ are no different.  We pray to Heavenly Father each day, hopefully many times during the day, and when we take of the sacrament we promise to remember Christ and take upon ourselves his name.

We texted Autumn and wished her a happy birthday this morning.

Debbie and I had our sacrament and testimony meeting about 10:45  at 12 Noon met in a zoom meeting with the children and their families.  Matthew taught the lesson, Hel. 7th chapter.  At 1 PM Debbie and I set in on a Zoom meeting with some of the group of return missionaries from the Adriatic North Mission.  Debbie and I had prayer and broke our fast and at 6 PM attended my last Hebrew class for this semester.  In the evening we watched a movie of Jesus from the Gospel of John.

Sparta hated walls but hated democracy even more. It’s said that its walls where its young men and its borders were the tips of their spears.

A Spartan warrior expressing the brave death of his comrade a Spartan woman, she said to him such a noble journey shouldn’t you have gone too?

Spartan boy complained to his mother that his sword was too short his mother said take a step forward and it will be long enough.

When a mothers son left for war there was a saying come back with your shield or come back on it. In other words come back alive or come back dead.

It is said that Spartans took the weak or deformed babies and threw them off a steep mountain cliff. Only the very fit and strongest were allowed to live, unless they were of nobility and then there could be exceptions. People of today kill or abort for convenience,
