I called and talked to an old friend Richard Clark from Georgia and is living here in Utah now.  I emailed Michael B____ my Hebrew Instructor asking how I can get into Ohad Cohen answers to questions about the 30 Lessons in Course A.

I made some notes from last night study preparing for Semi-Annual General Conference in October.

 

Countdown to conference: 'Ponder the New Proclamation' with this free daily study guide

One of the many ways April general conference was "unforgettable" was the introduction of “The Restoration of the Fulness of the Gospel of Jesus Christ: A Bicentennial Proclamation to the World.”

When he issued the new proclamation, President Russell M. Nelson encouraged, "Study it privately and with your family members and friends. Ponder the truths and think of the impact those truths will have on your life if you will hear them, hearken to them, and heed the commandments and covenants that accompany them."

As you prepare for October general conference, we invite you to join us in a nine-week study of the new proclamation. Each week will focus on a paragraph of the proclamation, with each day of the week corresponding to a common activity. We hope these prompts will help you ponder the truths of the proclamation. President Russell M. Nelson promised that our experience (at this conference) would be not only memorable but unforgettable. ………………..

………….The Restoration, I had read about that event many times, but it had always been to me a report of an important meeting that involved Joseph Smith, the prophet of the Restoration. But this time I saw in the account how the Lord leads us, His disciples, in His Church. I saw what it means for us mortals to be led by the Savior of the world, the Creator—who knows all thing, past, present, and future. He teaches us step by step and guides us, never forcing.

The meeting I’m describing was a pivotal moment in the Restoration. It was a Sabbath-day meeting held on April 3, 1836, in the Kirtland Temple in Ohio, seven days after it was dedicated. Joseph Smith described this great moment in the history of the world in a simple way. Much of his account is recorded in Doctrine and Covenants section 110. ……“We saw the Lord standing upon the breastwork of the pulpit, before us; and under his feet was a paved work of pure gold, in color like amber.

“His eyes were as a flame of fire; the hair of his head was white like the pure snow; his countenance shone above the brightness of the sun; and his voice was as the sound of the rushing of great waters, even the voice of Jehovah, saying:

“I am the first and the last; I am he who liveth, I am he who was slain; I am your advocate with the Father. ……….

…….  “After this vision had closed, another great and glorious vision burst upon us; for Elijah the prophet, who was taken to heaven without tasting death, stood before us, and said:

“Behold, the time has fully come, which was spoken of by the mouth of Malachi—testifying that he [Elijah] should be sent, before the great and dreadful day of the Lord come—

“To turn the hearts of the fathers to the children, and the children to the fathers, lest the whole earth be smitten with a curse—

“Therefore, the keys of this dispensation are committed into your hands; and by this ye may know that the great and dreadful day of the Lord is near, even at the doors.” ………………

……………….. Now, I had read that account many times. The Holy Ghost had confirmed to me that the account was true. …………………….

…………… After the keys of the gathering of Israel were committed to Joseph, the Lord inspired the Prophet to send out members of the Twelve on missions. As I studied, it became clear to me that the Lord had prepared in detail the w  ay for the Twelve to go on missions abroad where people had been prepared to believe and sustain them. In time, thousands would, through them, be brought into the Lord’s restored Church. …………………….

 

In September 1840, the Prophet Joseph Smith and his counselors in the First Presidency declared the following: “The work of the Lord in these last days, is one of vast magnitude and almost beyond the comprehension of mortals. Its glories are past description, and its grandeur unsurpassable. It is the theme which has animated the bosom of prophets and righteous men from the creation of the world down through every succeeding generation to the present time; and it is truly the dispensation of the fullness of times, when all things which are in Christ Jesus, whether in heaven or on the earth, shall be gathered together in Him, and when all things shall be restored, as spoken of by all the holy prophets since the world began; for in it will take place the glorious fulfilment of the promises made to the fathers, while the manifestations of the power of the Most High will be great, glorious, and sublime.” 

They went on to say: “We feel disposed to go forward and unite our energies for the upbuilding of the Kingdom, and establishing the Priesthood in their fullness and glory. The work which has to be accomplished in the last days is one of vast importance, and will call into action the energy, skill, talent, and ability of the Saints, so that it may roll forth with that glory and majesty described by the prophet [Daniel] {see Daniel 2:34-35, 44-45}; and will consequently require the concentration of the Saints, to accomplish works of such magnitude and grandeur.”

Even an unbelieving world will recognize The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and realize the power of God upon it. Faithful and brave disciples will fearlessly, humbly, and openly take upon them the name of Christ in their everyday lives.

Joseph Smith is an example ……… he prayed in faith, believing ….. Throughout his prophetic ministry, Joseph Smith used prayers of faith to obtain continuous revelation. As we face today’s challenges and those yet to come, we too will need to practice the same pattern. President Brigham Young said, “I do not know any other way for the Latter-day Saints than for every breath to be virtually a prayer for God to guide and direct his people.”

           For those who can not or will not accept this, I have two questions, if it is not true and you follow these precepts, what have you to lose? If it is true and you do not follow these precepts, what have you to lose?  For behold, this life is the time for men to prepare to meet God; yea, behold the day of this life is the day for men to perform their labors.  Alma 34:32

 

I got a call today from Empower Escrow informing me that all the property taxes on the property at 3254 Lexington Ave. in Clovis had not been paid for 2019 and 2020.  The County of Fresno will have to be paid before the sale can be completed and recorded. Taxes and penalties are over $8,000 which I will have to pay.  It will come out of the money I was to receive from the sale.  One good thing is, I will not have to be paying anything out of my pocket for this mistake.

Debbie, Karlene and Reed met in a zoom meeting with their mother, Jalna Searle, today.  They got a lot accomplished but still have to meet Kristy, Mervin Searle's daughter.  Mervin and Karl were brothers and farmed together. 

    I have something to add, when the time comes that the Lord asks us, through his ordained servants to concentrate all we have, to Him through His Church many will not have the faith to do so, even though they have covenanted they would do so when in the Temple of the Lord.  To have the faith to give all we have to the Lord requires us to grow daily drawing near and knowing the Savior.  We must search, study, memorize and feast upon the scriptures with a humble sincere heart calling upon him in pray continuously,
